The Scudder Memorial Hospital, Ranipet is one of the pioneering health care institutions in South India. Rev. Dr. John Scudder, the first medical missionary of the Reformed Church of America came to India in 1819 and started the medical ministry in and around Ranipet, Arcot, Walaja areas. His son Dr. Silas Scudder established the Scudder Memorial Hospital on 17th March 1866.
The Scudder Memorial Hospital is a multidisciplinary charitable hospital situated in the heart of Ranipet District with 28 Acres of land and 95 years old infrastructure which is called Taj Mahal of South India. The Scudder Memorial hospital is providing quality health care to the poor and needy people of the community in and around Ranipet and Vellore Districts covering over 75 villages, 10 panchayats with a population of 25 lakhs irrespective of cast and creed for the past 156 years.
The Scudder Memorial Hospital has six community health clinics in the remote villages to reach the unreached. Home Care Nursing, Free Medical Camps and Health Awareness Programs are conducted regularly by our Community Health Care Department.
The Scudder Memorial Hospital has 100 years old Nursing School and 40 years old Allied Health Science Unit which educate hundreds of Nursing and Paramedical professionals every year.
